YARN BOMB- week one

Yarn bombing is the textiles form of 'street art' or others would call it 'graffiti' knitting is a popular technique to use when yarn bombing, aswell as using materials such as wool, old fabric, plastic bags and old clothes and threads.

The chosen area was outside, and i thought it could look really interesting and intricate, We started off designing our experiment, the plan was to have a contrast of different colors and textures
aswell as a plain colour to contrast from the bold eye catching fabrics, we planned to use materials such as plastic bags/lace and ribbon for a dark 'spiderweb' taking influence from our research on Chiharu Shiota

We used black plastic bags, ribbon, black lace and wool to create and interesting approach to yarn bombing, the bottom of the railing is from fabrics knotted and twisted add more colour and depth.

This is one of the photographs from our finished Installation. Using bin bags, wool, fabrics such as old clothes and reusing materials we also used black lace, ribbon and tartan.
I sewed onto sections of the wool and i attached different fibres and fabrics. I thought it created an interesting contrast to the harsh black and would add more technique into the installation.

This picture interests me due to the extent of shapes formed in the piece and interesting textures. I like the harsh black effect, with the background taken into consideration the installation has a big expressive effect.

SAMPLING TAKEN FROM INTERESTING SECTIONS OF THE INSTALLATION

-I used materials such as masking tape to section of negative areas, brushos, acrylic paints, gouache, charcoal, oil pastels, manipulating the paper and scratching into it which made a distressed effect, i also used Biro and Indian ink.
